FEAST YOUR EYES - Behind the Scenes of “All You Can Eat” with Buffalo Rose

When Pittsburgh-based Americana band Buffalo Rose asked me to photograph the album art for their new release, All You Can Eat, I knew we were in for something fun, fresh, and wildly creative. Known for their lush harmonies, genre-blurring instrumentation, and magnetic stage presence, this six-piece band blends modern folk with pop sensibilities and just the right amount of quirky charm.

Meet the Band:
The current lineup includes:

  • Lucy Clabby – vocals & stylist for this shoot!

  • Margot Jezerc – vocals

  • Shane McLaughlin – guitar & vocals

  • Mac Inglis – dobro & banjo

  • Bryce Rabideau – mandolin & fiddle

  • Jason Rafalak – upright bass

Their sound is layered and dynamic; they’re equal parts toe-tapping, heartstring-tugging, and joy-inducing. If you’ve ever seen them live, you know they radiate the kind of chemistry and cohesion that’s hard to fake. And that’s exactly what we wanted to channel visually for this photoshoot.

With an album title like All You Can Eat, the vibe begged for something maximalist, tongue-in-cheek, and bursting with color. Think: vintage album covers from the '90s, crisp white backgrounds, and a healthy dose of personality. We leaned hard into bright colors, mixing bold tones and playful props (tulips, clocks, tennis rackets, an orange spherical candle…). Aysen Gerlach used their magic to transform these images to what you’ll see as the epic album sleeve.

Lucy Clabby took the lead on styling the band (with a minor assist from my personal wardrobe), making sure everyone’s look felt cohesive but still allowed their individual personalities to shine. Delaney Gatenby brought the vision to life with vibrant makeup and gave each band member a pop of color straight to the face. We even captured individual "personality pics" of each band member for the fold-out insert that will be included in the physical record. Each one a mini portrait of their quirks, energy, and style!

What started as a one-day shoot turned into something even more exciting. We had such a blast working together that Buffalo Rose asked me to join them on tour as their official photographer this summer! We hit the road across the Northeast and Canada, with stops in Vermont, Massachusetts, Ontario, and Michigan. I was lucky enough to be document the journey both onstage and behind the scenes; you can see more of the tour magic here!
