Moody Cinematic Portraits at Allegheny Cemetery
Mid summer I met up with Tori, one of the winners of my 2K Instagram follower giveaway, for a 30-minute creative portrait session at Allegheny Cemetery in Pittsburgh. (Funny enough, both winners of my Instagram giveaway requested moody and darker portraits). Allegheny cemetery is a historic location and one of my favorite hidden Pittsburgh gems for moody artistic portrait photography. It is filled with winding paths, towering trees, and soft cinematic light that makes photos feel like stills from a movie. I thought this was the perfect photoshoot to share during my favorite holiday —— HALLOWEEEEEEEEN (my bday)
Tori came ready to serve all the drama and creativity with two stunning looks. Her first outfit was a flowy black dress that perfectly captured the moody gothic vibe of the cemetery setting. The movement of the fabric gave every shot a hauntingly beautiful energy; don’t you think the image where Tori is running towards the camera would make for the perfect dark romance book cover? For her second look, she switched into a sleek red slip dress, adding a pop of color that felt bold and cinematic against the muted stone.
Whether you’re drawn to dark, moody portraits or you want something a little more artistic and unconventional, Allegheny Cemetery in Pittsburgh is an incredible backdrop for creative portrait photography. The quiet and timeless atmosphere makes it easy to experiment with movement, emotion, and storytelling.
If you’ve been dreaming of your own moody portrait session in Pittsburgh, especially if it’s a nod to spooky season, I’d love to help bring your vision to life!
